Since we are a writing network, most of our activity is reading of content. After a lot of investigation, everyone seems to think that black text on light backgrounds is easier on the eyes. When I first started my Ning back in 2010, I had a black background and light text. It was okay, but look at it for too long and you get eye strain. Of course, you have to think of the average age of your members. If they're older, you're going to have to consider the eye strain issue over aesthetic design. That's why I have white content modules and black text. My old eyes can't handle anything else for any length of time. :)
