CSS Issue... I think

You can see to black bars on the right and left side of the screen where it says 'follow us' and beside the ning sign in. Would love your thoughts on this. So I am having a hard time trying to understand the placement of the like and share buttons on ning creators. I think a good way to look is to go to Mashable.com - where users can easily share stories without reading them. Just off the front page - users can tweet, fb like and +1 a post.
