Hi Lutonya, sorry to hear you had trouble implementing Skimlinks!

We tried to make it as easy as possible so it didn't take to much time to get up and running - it should work right after you sign up for a Skimlinks account through your Ning interface.

I did just check your site: http://www.IndustryBuzzZ.com and it all appears to be working fine on your network.

While we work on those normal links in your network, we also turn keywords and product references into monetized links too, without any extra effort or impacting on your users! Hopefully you'll be covered for all monetization opportunities now!

Hi, Victor. You may want to read the earlier comments in this discussion. Hannah explains how to mouse over the links to see that it is working. It will also be turned on in your Extensions area. That also shows it is working.

(You're too fast for me Eric!)

Hi Victor,

Thanks for providing your community URL - I checked it, and yes, you have Skimlinks installed on your site. Anywhere you have an outbound link to an online retailer or a product reference for an item available for purchase online, Skimlinks will be working!

The sites that achieve the best returns from Skimlinks have a retail focus, providing content pertaining to products or services available to buy online. Popular verticals include consumer electronics, lifestyle, automotive, parenting and fashion.

I hope that helps!

Hi Victor,

Skimlinks starts working automatically when you sign up through your Ning interface - you don't need to do anything!

But, to increase your potential returns from Skimlinks, you can ensure you link out to online retailers relevant to your community, or include relevant product references in your content.

Thanks,

Hannah @ Skimlinks

One question I have about Skimlinks related to what merchants/merchandise might be included in the referral programs.  For example, I run two geographically-focused disc golf networks.  Members don't want to come to our site to buy "general" products and services.  However, they definitely would come to learn more about discs for sale, memberships with disc golf associations they can participate in, register for tournaments and events, etc.

I assume a product category as narrow as disc golf equipment, and the vendors which support the sport (Innova, Discraft, etc.) won't really be in your merchant program.  However, I wanted to at least ask.  Thanks Hannah!
