Chat Feature Update on Ning 3.0 is ready!

Good news - it`s time to announce the release of the Chat Feature on Ning 3.0 platform.

Today we are happy to provide you with the opportunity to chat with other members of your Ning Network in the most convenient and efficient way. To facilitate your community management experience, we have added several new options:

  • New design
  • Customizable notifications

With this release, you can customize notifications in accordance with your needs, rename your groups, add photos and users, use a message counter to monitor the number of messages, delete the messages you don’t need, send files, and suspend members from chat. • Hi there!

I'm sorry that this issue taking place on your network.

Also if it's possible of course, please notify us when the issue is appearing on your network so we could compare this information to the chats server log. That would help us a lot to find the issue faster.

          Thanks in advance,

          Ning Team.

          • "timeframe"

How about all day, every day, Monday - Friday.  o/c this is during U.S. time.........we're there from 8am - 3pm

Just today I think I've refreshed over a dozen times.  Seems I can post a few times and then it 'wacks' out.

            • Hi Kos,

Thanks for the additional information, I'll provide it to the developers and I hope that it would be useful for them.

              Thanks again,

              Ning Team.

    • Hi Manuel,

We do apologize for the inconveniences.

I have just run the test and it seems that your chat function is working fine right now. Could you please tell us have you tried to access it desktop or mobile version? Also please let us know whether it's still not working on your end or everything is fine right now?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • Hola Kyryl, chat no estable, el estímulo

        • Hi there!

I'm really sorry about that, I have updated that reopened complaint with the details of your network so the tech team could proceed with the investigations. Could you please also send us a screenshot if you can see the same messages like Kos.

          Regards,

          Ning Team.

  • Why not a simple, idiot proof, intuitive Members Online aspect to this chat...the normally expected, usual boring-looking members ACTUALLY online list .... not some Search function, or some hard to find list that involves clicking an arrow on some box,.., or certainly not a list that has a green light beside people who haven't been online or in chat for days.... I just don't get why the simple functional feature of seeing who is online has been made so arcane? If one looks at ANY other chat function on any other platform the first thing one sees upon clicking into the chat is....TahDah! ''Who's Online''.  A nice other feature is to select to be Invisible when online, so Offline (where one sees nada), Invisible (where one sees who is online and can speak to people privately should they choose), Online (where one appears with the other people ACTUALLY REALLY REALLY TRULY online and thus denotes thta one is available to chat freely). This new chat frustrates me.

    • Hi there!

As I see you have been heard by the management and they are going to add an option to switch back to old chat on 3.0 platform.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • That is excellent news!  Any word on when that will happen?
