Chat Feature Update on Ning 3.0 is ready!

Good news - it`s time to announce the release of the Chat Feature on Ning 3.0 platform.

Today we are happy to provide you with the opportunity to chat with other members of your Ning Network in the most convenient and efficient way. To facilitate your community management experience, we have added several new options:

  • New design
  • Customizable notifications
  • Message counter
  • Ability to create and manage groups (rename, add photos, delete and add users, block users)
  • Ability to send files

Chats 3.0 is an easy-to-use tool for building an effective network. With this release, you can customize notifications in accordance with your needs, rename your groups, add photos and users, use a message counter to monitor the number of messages, delete the messages you don’t need, send files, and suspend members from chat. The Chat Feature is available for both Ning 3.0 and 2.0 platforms.

We have a lot of ideas and plans, so please stay tuned for our updates and share your opinion with us!

        I'm so sorry that the issue with chat disconnection hasn't been fixed on your network yet I would keep pinging the tech team each time I would spot any report regarding chat malfunction.

      • btw Ning didn't use to be this way.  I know they're improving but they need more developers.  Hang in there if you can.

  • Going back to paying for a third-party chat system.  *sigh*  This is sad but the guys can't take it anymore.  I feel for the networks and educators with large chat discussions.  idk how they're getting through the day.

  • Kyryl WHAT IS GOING ON WITH CHAT???  I'VE JUST ABOUT HAD IT WITH THIS RIDICULOUS 'REFRESHING' AND DEVELOPERS WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING OR THEY'VE PLACED IT ON THE BACK BURNER WITH NO CONCERN FOR NETWORKS!!   NING RELEASED IT - IT SHOULD WORK.   CAN YOU TELL I'VE HAD IT?  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

      I do apologize for this, the issue with chat yesterday could have gone worse because we have been transferring the database, actually, all the issues that are happening just at this moment could have been caused by that and our team of system administrators is fixing the consequences of this transfer. But anyway I have brought the attention of the QA department to your issue with the chat once again.

      • Well all I can say is, don't release "new components" when they don't function properly.  It's beyond ridiculous how stupid we look and it's still not fixed.

      Thanks for keeping us informed. Our QA department is monitoring your network in order to spot the issue and check what might have been causing it. I hope that they would be able to reproduce it on our end in short terms.
