Expand your reach with a new Facebook Share button

When promoting a website, you need to leverage every communication channel at your disposal. No doubt, social media is one of the most powerful channels. We used to rely on social media to keep in touch with friends and connect with the world. But it can also help you reach out to prospective network members and popularize your content!

It is now easier than ever with our new Facebook Share feature! You can activate the “Share” button on your network in just a couple of clicks:

  1. Simply go to the Social Site Manager tab of the user dashboard and select Social Sharing.
  2. Check the Facebook Share box and click Save.

That’s it! The “Share” button will now be available below every post on your Blog, Articles, Photos, and Videos pages. By hitting the button, you and your network members will be able to share posts on the world’s largest social network, Facebook.

This will ensure that your content spreads more quickly across the web and reaches more people through your members’ feeds and social interactions. It is a great chance for you to get more exposure and attract new members to your network.

Good luck sharing!

Customization of agreements on your network

NING has always strived to satisfy the needs of its users regardless of their geographical location. Whether you are from the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa, or Australia, we always try to cater to our customers by adapting the NING platform to diverse regional norms and legal regulations.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is one of those regulations recently adopted in Europe. It is aimed at ensuring better data privacy and protecting European Internet users from unsanctioned collection and usage of personal data.

In simple terms, GDPR obliges all websites that receive visitors from the European Union to show a consent notification informing users about the use of cookies and the terms of collecting and processing personal data on the website.

That is why NING made sure that Network Creators can easily enable and customize three types of consent notifications, which would show up during member registration:

  • Terms of Service
  • Privacy Policy
  • GDPR Agreement

If your website doesn’t receive traffic from the EU or you simply don’t need to make any of the mentioned agreements with your visitors, you can easily disable this option.

To activate consent notifications on your network, follow these simple steps:

  • Go to the Members tab of the user dashboard, select Sign Up & Sign In, and scroll down to the Agreements section.
  • Choose one of the two radio buttons depending on whether you want to use a checkbox for every policy document or one checkbox for all the agreements. For the former option, you can specify which of the three agreements will be shown at the registration stage (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or GDPR Agreement).

If you don’t want any checkboxes to appear on the registration form, simply hit the Disable radio button.

With this simple feature, you can make sure that your network members are fully aware of the terms of service and privacy policy in effect on your website.

Redesign and additional settings for private message notifications

Social networking has always been at the heart of NING. This is what makes the platform special in comparison to other website builders out there.

We know how important communication is for your network members. And we don’t want them to miss a single message received through your network. On top of that, we want your website to get as much traffic as possible.

That is why, on request of many network creators, we have improved the design of private message notifications and made them customizable. Now you can decide whether you want to:

  • Show the entire message text or content update within the email notification;
  • Show only a preview of the message (200 characters max); or
  • Hide the message altogether.

To increase the attendance of your network (and boost traffic accordingly), you can simply set the system to send email notifications about members’ incoming messages without showing the content of these messages. Thus, members will have to click on the embedded link and visit your network to read the message.

To hide message text in email notifications, go to Members > Email Settings in your user dashboard and activate the No text radio button in the Messages section.

If you want the text of messages to be displayed to recipients, select the Full text radio button. In this case, members will be notified of a new incoming message and will be able to view the entire text of the message in their email client.

You can also limit the displayed message text to 200 characters, which is an excellent way to provide a preview for extensive conversation trees. For this, activate the 200 characters radio button.

The same message display parameters apply to content updates.

Furthermore, you can also provide an opportunity for your members to decide whether to display the message text in a notification email or not. To do this, select the Member defined settings parameter.

With this option enabled, members will have the Show message in the email checkbox available in the message creation screen. When checked, the full message text will be displayed in notifications.

With the new customization options, you can set the optimal format of your message notifications to make sure that your network members never miss a message from each other!

Sincerely,

NING team

I can see that "Use one checkbox for all the policy documents" option is already enabled on your website - https://take.ms/U1w5n

Did you change something or just tried to turn it on later and it worked?

      Looking forward to your reply!
