Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Today we're pleased to release a set of improvements to the Activity Feed feature on Ning 3.0 networks.

The updated Activity Feed allows members to view older items in the feed, and to view new items that have appeared since they loaded the page.

We've expanded the capabilities of Social Feeds so that you can have items automatically added to the Activity Feed via RSS and Twitter.

We've added a status feature, so that your members can leave status updates in the feed, and we've added link parsing for status updates, so that if a member adds a link, for example, to YouTube, the video is embedded and playable directly in the feed. Link parsing and embedding works with a wide variety of sites, including: YouTube, Dailymotion, Vine, Flickr video, Twitter, Soundcloud and Bandcamp. We'll also provide a preview of content for any link to a site that supports the OpenGraph standard.

With this release, members can also comment on status updates and individual photos directly in the feed.

In order to see and activate the new options that are available for the Activity Feed, head to the Activity Feed Settings page in the Social Site Manager.

              • What a joke! So they admit this is a lazy port of the ning 2.0 activity feed which wasn't tested in any way shape or form prior to being foisted upon our networks!

And not sure white DATE it will be fixed, good god!! Laughable!!
  • think the activity feed has stopped working on here now.. posted a new topic 30 minutes ago and it hasn't showed up in the feed at all.

let hope its because they are tweaking....

  • this is what I get when I put in a url on the side bar activity feed 3237683?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

I have the side bar set to large not sure what else to do to make the preview show up in the activity feed any suggestions? now when I move it to a single module it shows up sort of here's a pic of that

does it have to be in a single module to show up?  Is it only me that has this problem?

    • My site's feed is slightly better today but has its bad periods of time where it takes an hour for things to show up. Most things do not show up at all and the time posted (as said in the feed) is nowhere near the actual time of the item's post.

A funny thing occurred on the feed. I replied to a comment in a post in a group's forum. My reply showed up in the feed, far too late for it to be helpful, and 15 minutes later the comment that I replied to showed up in the feed!

  • This has got to be the most ridiculous thing yet, I keep reading and reading the comments and face palming. I was pleased they fulfilled their promise to add the activity feed but alas it seems this was just a carrot being held out to appease the masses. What a shame.

  • My site's activity feed is the same as everyone here, taking up to an hour to show new content. Why does the creators activity feed show replies that were posted minutes ago?

    • Good question Ben.  NIng is applying fixes to its own network but leaves everyone else hanging with lousy function?  Makes no sense to me...what the heck?

  • This morning I tried posting a video in the status update box. So I put in the url of the youtube video, and hit share. The video posted, but when I refreshed the page the video was not there. Then about 5 minutes later the video shows up in the activity feed. Is any one else having this problem on there N3 network?

      • I am seeing every thing is taking a long time to post now also John, Its will not take long for my members to get sick of this., and it is not ning that will have to answer to my members its me. I sure hope ning gets this right soon.

        • On a side note here it might be a good idea for all NC to send out a message about this. It would help if ning would give us updates on this problem so we know what to tell are members.
