Ning 2Q 2017 plan!

Most of you have asked us about Product plan for the nearest future. And here it is!

For the last couple of months we’ve been listening to you very carefully, gathering and analyzing all your feedbacks to make Ning platform a better place for you and your members.

So here is the list of functions we are going to release in Q2.

1) Making Ning 3.0 as functional as Ning 2.0:
- Paid Access. Probably the most expected feature that will be much better and way more functional than the previous version.
- Chats. Basically, they are live now, but in Q2 this option will be upgraded to the next level.
- Audio. The basic feature with basic performance.

2) Completely new features:
- Polls. You will be able to ask different questions, receive immediate feedback from your customers and make research you need in order to evolve your platform.
- Member ranking system. To encourage, motivate and engage your members, as well as develop your community.

3) Some upgrades are coming for both platforms:
- Disk usage is going to be visible for all creators to manage your space and resources.
- Broadcast messages will become more functional, with a bunch of new settings for you and your members.

4) Our brand new redesigns are also coming to push Ning to a new era not only functionally, but visually as well:
- redesign is live now and you can check it out on
- and Ning corporate blog will try out new outfits this quarter too.

5) New migration script. Those who would like to migrate from Ning 2.0 to Ning 3.0 to use more benefits would be able to do that easily.

6) System monitoring. 99,9% of uptime monitoring is now done, which gives us the opportunity to keep everything under control, and provide you with better and better service.

7) Hardware renovation plan, that our tech team is currently working on, is going to be ready by the end of Q2.

        • Douwe themes are no more than layout.  Navigation above, below the header or along side.  The design or esthetic of the site is completely up to you as Ning has given you the ability to upload backgrounds and colors in the 'design' is all yours.  I do wish we had the ability to 'fade' backgrounds but that's when CSS comes in handy.  Just shout out if you need a little help.

      • Hi, i like it because some Ning 2 themes are very useful to some networks like for example Urban Tek.

        • What, in 2.0 themes, do you want Tony?  Most can be replicated with simple CSS.  Can you be more specific?  Maybe we can help?  Send me a PM if you wish.

  • I'm having a HUGE problem with blog comments on my Ning 2 site. It used to be that blog comments posted from old to new. Now they are listing from new to old, and there is no way to change the order.

That has ruined the flow of blog comments, and some of our blogs have more than a hundred pages of comments. My bloggers and many members are very unhappy about it.

I called tech support and you could tell that they thought I was crazy, that they always went new to old. But I am not. This needs to be fixed. Blogs are a big part of my site and your change has ruined them.

    • Hi Steve,

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing such an issue but you can control the order how your comments would be displayed. Just go to the dashboard and find the button features.

More about this you can find in our help centre article here

      Hope this helps.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • Thank you! That's how it was from 2009 to recently, but the system must have reset it and I forgot about it since I hadn't touched it in 8 years. Please sell Tech Support about it. They had no idea the order could be changed.

  • Dear Anastasiia,

Let me just introduce myself. I am here over Ning platform from February, 2007. Just completed 10 years and presently managing three networks over Ning. Ning to be successful, the creators must be successful and the creators to be successful they need the tools. Last time when Ning plan to increase its prices, I plan to close my two networks. You and your team should know why? Its not because my sites are not feasible. Its because I dont have the tool over Ning to make money. I can only put functional ads below header and along side bar that hardly get attention from the users. So, I am unable to make money to bear the cost of Ning plan. If I will have the tools to display ads within blog post, within forum post, within event, just after photos/videos or above photos / videos than surely I can double my earning and that will make my network feasible for me as well as for you.

One more think, I hate the provision of uploading files by my members within the forum post  (I am not talking about attaching the files, that I can delete) as an creator I cannot delete it and so it unnecessarily consume my server space.

    • Badan there are ways to inserts ads, let's say inside all forum or blog posts, or up next to the header image (for example) but you'll have to ask for the price over at the Hire A Creator group.  I don't think I've ever seen a free version offered in the forums (but I could be wrong)

      • Dear Kos, Yes I know there are ways to put ads in between blog post, forum and others but my point is I want these to be an integral part of the Ning so that when someone develop a social network by using Ning they will have the tools to monetize their website instead of again spending in the form of Hiring a creator.

Long before I have seen free version of those codes posted here over creators and I am still using one such code for my forum post. You can find it Here in action.

    • Hi there,

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to make your network be overweight with the advertisement, while you can use Paid Acess feature for your network and generate the revenue that way, but anyway that sounds like a suggestion so I have sent it to the management. I'll inform via email whether such ability would be added to our platform or not.

The second paragraph is a little bit unclear if they are not attaching the files to the post how they are adding the files to the post? If you don't mind please provide us with an example.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.
