Ning Partners with Noosphere

Noosphere is happy to announce that it recently coordinated the successful acquisition of Ning Inc assets.  Under the terms of the acquisition PSCP Holdings Limited acquired the business and will operate it under the newly formed entity Ning Interactive Inc.  The Ning brand is an important member of their social discovery division's portfolio of technology assets, and the experienced management of the division will oversee the transition to Ning Interactive Inc.

We are excited about the acquisition and expect to invest in our team, infrastructure, and system upgrades and are committed to improving the overall customer experience.  While the deal was being hammered out behind closed doors, our team here has been working to prioritize a few things we’ll be working on in the immediate future.

  • Price Increase Rollback.  We’re putting all plans to discontinue the Ning Mini and raise Ning Plus and Pro prices on hold for the time being.  Our first and foremost priority is to get back to work improving the platform with results you can see before doing anything about raising your prices.  More information about this update can be found here.
  • Inconsistent Uptime.  Our Status Blog has been getting more of a workout than any of us like these days, and we know our uptime hasn’t been as consistent as it once was.  One of our most important goals is to work to limit downtime and improve uptime.
  • Bug Fixes.  Turnaround time on bug fixes has also slowed in the past few years.  We’ll be working to improve this and have started tracking some of the more visible bugs and their fixes on our Known & Recently Resolved Issues page.
  • New Features.  We know there are a number of features you’ve requested, and we’ve started work on smaller improvements and planning for new features.  You can find more information about our first new release here.

We’re fully aware of the recent network availability issues plaguing some of you and your members and have already begun the infrastructure improvements to resolve this.  We’ll share more information about our upcoming plans and improvements here on Creators under Announcements from Ning, so please stay tuned!

  • My members are paying their dues to a site they cannot access!!! My site was working find last week, not the ubiquitous 500 error messages. What happened?!?

  • That is very encouraging.  The insane, unethical, and arrogant behaviour I have witnessed since Mode took over explains their folding over.  They deserve it.  I hope they will learn this lesson.  Greed brings failure and bankruptcy.  Ethical trading and giving value for money and good service to your customers brings success.

I will put the plan to move my two networks elsewhere on hold.  Meanwhile the 500 error is on at the moment and is upsetting my members yet again  I am sure you guys are aware of this current outage.  I look forward to the reliable NING of the past which offered value for money and great support.

    Best wishes

  • IS there an estimate as to how long it will take before our Site Features function again?  Ours hasn't updated since sometime Thursday, October 6th and my Support requests have not been answered

  • This must be why our site is down again?
  • I received an email from Ning last month just after taking my payment, that you were deleting sites on 9/30 unless we agreed to update to double prices. As most of my members have long since gone over to facebook I emailed them with the news and most didnt respond and simply havent come back to the site.

I then began building a new site on Wordpress but couldnt do the migrate part so began copying the most important things I wanted to save from my site's impending 'doom date of 9/30' as I didnt mind so much 7 years ago when the free sites had to begin paying the $9.95 , nor later on when the price went up to $19.95 and then even went along when the price went up to $24.95 BUT when the email came saying the price was going to be $59.95 that was the end for me!
There are so many other sites that provide better service and include a checkout cart for as little as $9.95 a month. All this time I had to make paypal buttons and do the html additions myself and put up with that to remain in the $24.95 package however now after seeing how fast you were about to pull the plug on us, I realized its time to go.
My site was down more than it was up last month. Then there was a 'glitch' that no longer let my URL work on my ning and neither went anywhere. After troubleshooting with GoDaddy found it was on Ning's end and it took a few days to get on NingCreators as well as that page wouldnt come up,

So now after all your own internal issues and wheeling and dealing for a new buyer - again - no longer Mode which I am to understand treated Ning sites as despised adopted children with little more than hand-me-downs.I was glad I didnt opt for the 3.0 seeing the nightmares many had over it . The 2.0 for me was good enough, though dated still offered more than facebook and was familiar to work with after having it for so many years but frankly during the transition in 2009 many artists who had sites - left - went over to sites like Spruz - which at the time welcomed Ning site owners and offered free sites - but soon began charging and their sites were not as good as Ning [at the time] which made me grateful I kept my Ning sites.

What I couldnt get done over the passed month due to the persistent outages on Ning's end, I resigned myself to 9/30 as the doomsday for my site.

I didnt know your internal issues with finding a new owner. I didnt know your new owner decided to roll back prices or any such thing.
    I received no further emails.

I found out when Paypal was charged on 10/1 which I believed an error since your email stated  if we didnt upgrade we were being deleted!

This has become like a messy divorce!
    I want a refund.

I am done as I just spent the majority of the passed month having to build a new site because of your email.

Its a shame too, as Ning 2.0 platform, certainly could have  done their own better version of facebook and offered more than facebook with the customizable pages & profiles ~ but facebook kept it free all these years and look what an empire they built as a result!

  • Great news all around and thanks for letting us know

  • NC for Hire

Excellent, progress. Thank you for the announcement! I have no knowledge of Noosphere Ventures (other than what I quickly googled) or PSCP Holdings Limited. I hope we learn more in the future.

  • Are you finally going to change the footer branding to remove Mode from the branding? Here is a screen capture of what I am referring to for those who don't follow my question.3239091?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • who? Noosphere? guess I google it... Thanks for the update...
