Ning Q3 2017 plan!

When building up a plan for Q3, we based our roadmap on your feedback and suggestions, which we have been gathering and analyzing over the previous quarter. Aligning the list of the most sought-after features and your vision of our product with our planned development direction, we decided to focus on the following updates in Q3:

Improvements of Ning platform`s functionality:

  • Paid Access. The full release of this update will include Stripe integration in response to your feedback. Network creators will be able to set paid access to certain sections of their networks, monetize specific content (events, webinars, user-generated content with high rating), and get donations.

  • Audio. Many of you claimed the priority of this update, so this functionality will be delivered soon.

  • Release of Polls feature.  After the release of Search, this functionality often got listed among top priorities for the development. We remember that we promised to get it to you, so our dev team is already working on it.

We will also be adding smaller updates that you were asking for on Creators Network, such as:

  • Facebook integration

  • HTML5 (instead of Flash player)

  • Design studio tweaks

  • UI/UX improvement for mobile devices

Another aspect that we will touch upon is the overall usability of the product. We are already working in multiple directions in this regard - starting with Blog redesign.

Remember Kyryl, our Support Manager, who is always there for you whenever you have any questions? We tried to talk him out of it, but he could not resist reworking the Creators network for you, to improve its usability in accordance with your feedback. Yay to another part-time developer on the team - and condolences to his free time :)

That being said, have you ever wanted to join Ning team to steer the development process? Ready to jump into planning our upcoming releases with us? We’ll be back with this unprecedented opportunity soon - be the first to test pilot it!

If you have any suggestions on how to improve our service or you need help, please feel free to contact us via email support@ning.com or live chat. Follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Ning/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/Ning) to stay fully informed about all upcoming updates.

        • Hi there!

When I have replied to your message I thought you were talking about emails that the network is sending (like notifications, broadcast messages etc.) so I have asked developers to take a look at the email sending systems. However, as you have mentioned ticket in your comment I have decided to check the one you are talking about (and just to let you know, we don't have system that relies on the emails of customers automatically, the only automatic email you might receive is the satisfaction survey or email notification that your ticket was solver or merged into another ticket, all other messages are sent by our customer support reps, of course we have message templates for the most common cases but they are not getting sent automatically), and as far as I have understood from the ticket you have issue with private messages inside the network. So I'm a bit confused here, sorry for that. If you are talking about the private messages, there was an issue with them but it was fixed already if you don't mind could I join your network and test the private messages between you and me? To see whether all of them are coming.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

          Best regards,

          Ning Team.

          • That would be great Kyryl.

Okay, so there was an issue with mails inside networks and now it is solved? My network is a quiet small one so it takes me time to notice an issue and it takes me time to see if it is fixed. Perhaps I missed the fixing ...was it recent? I sent mail yesterday and it arrived, or at least  one did. But I cannot be sure about two other mails in past couple of days. People don't always reply, it's just the way we are, so it is hard to exact;y say what is happening.

Anyways, it would be good to test. Thank you.

            • Hi there,

Could you please tell me the screen names of the members of your network to whom you have sent the messages yesterday, so I could check whether the message has been delivered or not? Also, I have just created the profile on your network could you please approve me :-)

              Best regards,

              Ning Team.

              • Will do, on site

  • I had my first name Network in 2009. I had a second one in 2012. I started creating my third one 2016 and I will be launching in January 2018. Ning you have come so far since 2009. I know that you guys have gone through some bumps but the new Ning team is spectacular and I'm proud to be a part of your platform. Thank you for all you're doing!
    • Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the nice words. We would keep up improving the platform, hope that you would enjoy the updates :-)

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

  • I've just been begging for notifications to go out to a members email so that members know when a discussion is added to the site or a group that a member belongs to. It's hard to get member's participation because of this one small implement that is so important for member participation. A daily diary would be even nicer of all of the new discussions on the site because members of the site that don't belong to a particular group may be interested in a discussion added that the member is not a member in the group. And a daily diary of "just" new discussions in groups would not clog a person's email if a lot was added to the site that day. Until we get one of the other of these nothing else is going to matter because member participation is number one to me concerning my site.

    • You may have to use Broadcast messages until your participation gets up. Do a blast just based on Discussions every Wednesday and see how it grows. Once a person joins a discussion they should be able to stay associated with it as it grows via regular emails.  Let your members know what they are missing and they will come to the site more to participate in convo.

      • I've been doing that. It took me over an hour to get it done. I don't know what I'm going to do when school starts. I don't have this kind of time to spend for this. I have been putting out a diary once a week of all of the discussions that were added in the passed week. I even have a couple of groups that get added to daily. They're a week late by the time my members get this diary. I wish they would at least do this, I've never been so frustated with something in a long time. I have to do all kinds of things to get member participation. If there at least a daily diary of discussions that were added the day before that would help member participation. I have had my own websites for years and I've never had this kind of frustration going on. No one knows when a discussion is posted. I'm really at my wits end with this.

        • Hi there!

we are sorry that lack of such functionality is causing you so much trouble. As I remember I have already passed your suggestion to change the functionality of teh email notifications to the management, so I have updated the existing report with your new comment I hope it would help them to make the right decision.

          Best regards,

          Ning Team.
