Ning Q3 2017 plan!

When building up a plan for Q3, we based our roadmap on your feedback and suggestions, which we have been gathering and analyzing over the previous quarter. Aligning the list of the most sought-after features and your vision of our product with our planned development direction, we decided to focus on the following updates in Q3:

Improvements of Ning platform`s functionality:

  • Paid Access. The full release of this update will include Stripe integration in response to your feedback. Network creators will be able to set paid access to certain sections of their networks, monetize specific content (events, webinars, user-generated content with high rating), and get donations.

  • Audio. Many of you claimed the priority of this update, so this functionality will be delivered soon.

  • Release of Polls feature.  After the release of Search, this functionality often got listed among top priorities for the development. We remember that we promised to get it to you, so our dev team is already working on it.

We will also be adding smaller updates that you were asking for on Creators Network, such as:

  • Facebook integration

  • HTML5 (instead of Flash player)

  • Design studio tweaks

  • UI/UX improvement for mobile devices

Another aspect that we will touch upon is the overall usability of the product. We are already working in multiple directions in this regard - starting with Blog redesign.

Remember Kyryl, our Support Manager, who is always there for you whenever you have any questions? We tried to talk him out of it, but he could not resist reworking the Creators network for you, to improve its usability in accordance with your feedback. Yay to another part-time developer on the team - and condolences to his free time :)

        Well, at the moment Audio feature and Polls are in progress, Paid access is in beta and we are launching it in the test regime on networks previously chosen for this purpose. So if there wouldn't be any extraordinary issues, we should deliver those features in time.

  • Is there an estimation on when we will release polls? Or maybe more info on the direction of the Blog update?

  • Just to notify - Internal mail on my site is faulty. I have sent support ticket and eventually was told this is a bug, and that my site is first and only one so far to notify. It is difficult to notice as some mails deliver and others do not, and how does one know? Anyways, if anyone else has noticed anything iffy with their site mail over past 2 or 3 weeks please send a support ticket so that fixing the bug gets moved up the priority list. thanks!

    • Yes, I put in a ticket a few weeks ago for having an issue with mail not sending to a member. I kept getting an error. It seems to be resolved at this time.

        Thanks for filing a ticket. I have asked admins to take a look at the mailing system, I hope it's just the temporary spike but we have to make sure.

      That would definitely help make the priority of teh bug higher, yes please let us know if there are any issues with mailing systems that you have noticed. also if there is something with broadcasts please don't forget to attach the subject of your broadcast message to the report.

      • I am still having the issue where my mail is not working on my site....i think in fact it may only be my mail (I'm the site creator) but i have no idea really as lost mails generate no trails or responses...! I feel as though my issue has been put on the long finger, and have been told that issues are looked at according to their number and urgency. That's a bit unfair given that it could be a very long time then before my issue is dealt with if it is a bug on my particular site only. Also my tool box extension is always open when i log in, which is different than it used to be - it used to be closed until i chose to open it, now i have to close it each time i log in - and my google analytics have dropped by 70%. I have 4 years records of GA and it has fallen in one day at the end of July off a cliff. There is something going on and I feel like i am getting automated replies to support tickets even though they are signed by an individual.
