Update to Product Roadmap and Communication Changes

Thank you for your patience over the past several weeks. As you know, we closely follow and appreciate the feedback you share on Creators, and we’d like to make a couple of important announcements related to your posts.

First, regarding the product, the team has been working over the last several months on re-architecting and re-developing a new Activity Feed for Ning 3.0. The new Activity Feed will include the addition of statuses and more embeds based on pasting links into the status field. This isn’t everything that the team is working on but the most significant short term new capability. We are planning to release this feature in July.

We also wanted to address the downtime that some of you experienced on May 26th and 27th. After the scheduled maintenance on Monday to update a group of servers, we discovered that some of the backup servers were malfunctioning. We've corrected this and have changed our operating procedures to prevent this from happening again.

On the communication side, based on several factors including resources and priorities, we have made the decision that we will no longer be involved in providing day-to-day support and feedback through the Creators community. Communication from the Ning team needs to be focused on product capabilities and new releases and other general announcements such as this one. Our team is focusing on expanding some of the planned features that we already have in development. Once we have more information to share with you, we will do it here.

Please continue to use this community as a productive place to have conversations about how to build, grow, and manage Ning Networks. We will continue to provide technical support through tickets and phone. As always, phone support is available to those with networks on Pro, Performance and Ultimate plans. Our technical support team is available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm PST.

      • And you are correct. They wasn't bothered whatsoever, within 24hrs the had shut down my site.

        • Wow, that is so awful. What is wrong with these people.

          • They shut my site down quicker than replying to questions. Lol

  • So Ning, looking at the title of this, your own thread.... where exactly is your UPDATE TO PRODUCT ROAD MAP?  It's been over FOUR MONTHS since the Product Road Map has been updated- it's completely out of date at this point.

Four months is way too long to keep all your customers in the dark.

Now that you've finished the "Articles" feature and 'forum notifications' (months ago already) and the update to the activity feed...  WHAT IS COMING NEXT, and WHEN ??

    Please respond.

    • Ning- how about an update for your Product Road Map, which is many months outdated and completely inaccurate now.

      • This entire mess with Ning has become just sickening. If you look at the product roadmap they were pushing out big additions to 3.0 multiple times per month until March and then they just stopped. Worse yet they expect us to believe it actually takes 5 months to roll out an activity feed and judging by many of the comments it's full of bugs and poorly thought out.

Personally, I think they're doing nothing more than tossing out a bone to shut people up. For what they're charging people they should have a full up to date "reasonable" roadmap of what's coming, actually scratch that - they should have a fully working product since people are paying for it.

I was once one of Ning's biggest supporters but now sadly, after all of this I do not refer anyone to Ning because it would be wrong to knowingly guide someone into this mess. I'm completely terrified of the thought of having to move my 2.0 at some point to this platform.

that is probably the most concise and accurate description of what is happening that I've read Anthony.  I couldn't have said it better myself.  Sure wish Eric was around...none of this would be happening..

              • Anthony, don't be afraid to tell us how you really feel.     ;)

    • I agree this is some HIGH grade BS people are losing faith in this network and for good reasons who wants to stay with a network that gives you blank stares when asked whats next? or maybe they don't know themselves? either way it isn't a goo d look for ning and it's brand at all smh (like I had whip lash) unacceptable:-(
  • that is alarming I'm losing faith in ning it isn't much i can do with my site besides blog and forums it's hard to create activity without certain things in place and not being a css or html guru I'm at a loss  no music players no video players have to use a work around for the work around and end up with something more difficult for the average community user to understand in which now puts the more strategic way of explaining what it is they are suppose to do to add this that and the third and it just sucks.  many don't want to spend all of that time putting things up on there page and would rather just upload and know it's there come on ning/ mode or whoever it is sheesh I hate that you have had all these webinars that states want makes or can make a community successful and all that was taught you yourselves fell at the waste side in keeping your very own community happy?  the irony is real...
