Update to Product Roadmap and Communication Changes

Thank you for your patience over the past several weeks. As you know, we closely follow and appreciate the feedback you share on Creators, and we’d like to make a couple of important announcements related to your posts.

First, regarding the product, the team has been working over the last several months on re-architecting and re-developing a new Activity Feed for Ning 3.0. The new Activity Feed will include the addition of statuses and more embeds based on pasting links into the status field. This isn’t everything that the team is working on but the most significant short term new capability. We are planning to release this feature in July.

We also wanted to address the downtime that some of you experienced on May 26th and 27th. After the scheduled maintenance on Monday to update a group of servers, we discovered that some of the backup servers were malfunctioning. We've corrected this and have changed our operating procedures to prevent this from happening again.

On the communication side, based on several factors including resources and priorities, we have made the decision that we will no longer be involved in providing day-to-day support and feedback through the Creators community. Communication from the Ning team needs to be focused on product capabilities and new releases and other general announcements such as this one. Our team is focusing on expanding some of the planned features that we already have in development. Once we have more information to share with you, we will do it here.

Please continue to use this community as a productive place to have conversations about how to build, grow, and manage Ning Networks. We will continue to provide technical support through tickets and phone. As always, phone support is available to those with networks on Pro, Performance and Ultimate plans. Our technical support team is available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm PST.

                    • That about sums up the situation for me Steve!

                    • Thanks, SP. I read the employee reviews under the names Mode Media and Glam. The company appears to be as clueless on the inside as it looks on the outside.

                      Sad....
                    • NC for Hire
"Remember Glam are not some amateur business, they know what they do every step of the way"

Reading former employee views on Glass door.com i wouldn't be so sure.
            • What is the actual name of the company John?  Is it Glam Media?  Is that the name of their site?

              Thanks!

              • I found it John but I couldn't find the press post you referred to however, I did find a video that bothered me *sigh* of what the dreams once were for NING.  By the way, I didn't see any staff that I recognized... wow!

    • Ning had an awesome staff when they were purchased, they were very responsive and rolled out new things and changes all the time. Now people receive little to no response, at best canned responses. After the buyout  they gradually got rid of everyone and if you call you're now talking to someone in India. Trust me, they bought a gem with a fantastic staff and a great platform but unfortunately,  instead of building on it,  they took in the money and ran it into the ground. They know many are stuck with Ning and they bank on that fact every month (basically, either keep it or lose everything you've worked for).

      • I completely agree with you, they should go back to how they used to be :/ i wasn't a creator early enough to have 2.0, so it sucks :/ if only some of the creators had the money to either buy ning or hire an attorney like loads of the creators have been on about on this discussion aha

    • Definitely screen shot your month to month change interaction with them. Their Facebook is blown up with people who have been charged annually after cancelling etc.

  • Is this the latest Update from Ning? May 31,2014!

    • Yep, this is the last update :s

I said it to ning, their killing themselves, when they go under, they'll only have them selves to blame , if only they listened to the ones who are paying their pay cheques, Ning would be in a completely different situation right now, its sad in a way that Ning have let them selves get into this state, for the sake of several features (that they used to have) It would be taking the mic, if they were new features, so it be harder to implement them, but they used to have them, so they've got all the data there, Never mind, I might convert over to jamroom when Ning bring back the Archiver for 3.0

being with Ning, is like being on the social media version of titanic :/

Doe's anyone know where we can put an official complaint in ? one that they will actually pay attention to? :)
