In the future, this may we worked out, but in the meantime, this is what I am doing to remedy.

About your missing files: Hopefully you have them backed up. You could have downloaded them using the old archiver but chances are you may have to go into the Wayback Machine to retreive them.. (remember there is also a /topics/ after /forum inside the old 2.0).

As for getting the problems solved. Here is a little video walkthrough i made today while testing out Loom recorder. Sorry for the lag in some places...my internet was slower than usual today..

Sorry, your browser doesn’t support HTML5 videos. Download it.

Also see...

Tip: Language Editor Tweaks for File Downloads and Attachments

Sweet Potato graciously provided us with this method for creating your Download buttons

Ning 3.0 Tip: Download Button

In this video I'll show you how to reupload those attachments while embedding them at the same time into your discussions so that you can regain your search engine traffic for those pages.

For this example it is best to create a workflow with just 3 tabs open (instead of 15 like i did in this video... sorry for the length).

The Edit page for the Discussion you are updating

This Code Pen to change out the URL for generating your Embed Iframe

Your Google Webmaster Console to resubmit to search engines after update.

See the Pen PDF View or any docs view using gdocs by JFarrow (@JFarrow) on CodePen.

How to Implement Members-Only Downloads for Attachmentshttps://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/how-to-allow-implement-members-only-downloads-of-attachments2012-08-31T18:59:53.000Z2012-08-31T18:59:53.000Z⚡JFarrow⌁https://creators.ning.com/members/JFarrow

So I made a change to my network this week that I think could be very beneficial to other creators. I noticed that some of my forum posts have between 5k-7k views but not very many replies, so with a little investigation, i realized that these posts where ones with uploaded attachments such as manuals and guides.

I wrote some javascript to require non-members to be forced to sign up in order to download files from my surveyors network.

Here is the code, which must be placed inside your custom code section at the bottom under all of your other scripts.

What happens when yo are not signed in and try to download an attachment is it automatically redirects members to the signup page. Take a look at this post and try to download the attachment and you'll see what I mean. Tell me what you think!

By the way my network just crossed the 8200 member mark this week! Hoo-Ray! I am very picky about my members...
