FORUM

Kos mentioned this about having the follow button at the top of the page rather than the bottom, now this code is for Ning 3 not 2 ( I don't have a two to try code out for it ).

So what this code does is move that follow button to the top of the page and also to the top of the forum discussions as well. I also added a little code to make the font bigger while also adding a little text into the button so it makes it clearer when following how to un-follow. Below is the code and also some demo images.

First part is to add some code into your site and pages custom code section, also you will notice that I have added the pages name for my forums so you will need to change this for your own forums name. For example if you have yours called siteForum then it would look like this .page-siteForum then the rest of the code. The parts in bold are what you need to change.

<script>
x$(".page-forums .module-footer .js-followUnfollow").prependTo( ".module-header");
x$(".discussionDetailPage .js-followUnfollow").prependTo( ".entry-headline.media-frame");
</script>

And here is the css which goes in your design studio custom css and once again change the parts in bold for your forum name

.page-forums .js-followUnfollow{ width:100%; text-align:right; margin-bottom:10px }
.page-forums .js-followUnfollow .button-tiny a{ font-size:12px }
.page-forums .js-followUnfollow .button-tiny .is-selected::after{content:"( Click to unfollow )"; display:inline-block }

  • Hi John,

    If you need 2.0 network to try moving Follow button there, just let me know, and I'll send you test on in private message.

    Best regards,

    Ning Team.

    • Hi Kyryl, yes thanks as that would be great to see if can do this for Kos. I will send you an email.

      Cheers

      John :-)

      • Hi John,

        I have replied to your message please check :-)

        Best regards,

        Ning Team.

  • super tip, John,

    Thank you!

  • Oh thank goodness!  Seriously Ning needs to move this sucker up but thank goodness for John.  You rock dude

  • Augh.  Now it's not working again.  I need a vacation!

    • Hi there!

      The tip John has provided is valid for the discussion only, not because of the name of the page, but also because of the class .discussionDetailPage. In your particular case, just replace .discussionDetailPage in the code with .blogDetailPage  in the code you have already inserted in the custom code section on your network after everything would work. If there would be any issues with that just let me know and I'll help to make it work :-)

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

      • That did it.  Thank you Kyryl
