Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

We will be performing some planned maintenance on the Ning Platform on Wednesday, February 20, from 10pm-2am Pacific Time (that's 0600-1000 GMT on February 21). During this time, all Ning Networks will be offline and display branded maintenance pages. Ning.com and Creators will be down for maintenance as well.

We strive to offer a consistently high uptime and need to perform some crucial hardware and database updates to ensure that reliability continues. We also strive to keep longer planned maintenance windows like this one to a minimum and schedule them for low-traffic hours.

During this 4-hour window:

  • Your Ning Network will display a maintenance page matching your current theme customization to let your members know that your community is temporarily unavailable.
  • We will update the Ning Status Blog when this maintenance begins and ends.
  • Creators will also be down for maintenance. We'll update here when all is complete.

Not sure when 10pm Pacific is in your time zone? Use Every Time Zone to find out!

You may want to let your members know about this downtime in advance via a Broadcast Message or notice on the Main Page of your network. Feel free to make use of the language below, filling in your network details.

Formal: We will be performing maintenance on [network_name] on Wednesday, February 20 between 10pm and 2am Pacific Time. During this time, [network_name] will be unavailable. We hope this won’t be too much of an inconvenience as we work to perform some necessary upgrades.

Informal: Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that we need to perform some simple but necessary maintenance on [network_name] on Wednesday, February 20. We’ll need to take the site down at 10 p.m. Pacific for about 4 hours during which we’ll simply show a message asking folks to check back later. Thanks in advance for your patience while we tune up the site!

    • Hi Rowald, I wasn't able to reproduce this on our end. If you are still encountering an issue with the Features Layout on your network, performing a hard refresh (Shift-Command-R on a Mac or Control-F5 on a PC) or clearing cache and cookies should help.

  • Just wanted to let everyone know that the scheduled maintenance is now complete. Everything is back up and running smoothly.

Though you shouldn't be running into any issues, please reach out to us either here on Creators or via a ticket if you do notice anything strange.

    Thanks!

    Mayra

  • Hi everyone!

We'll be starting at 10pm sharp (about 15 minutes). As a reminder, Creators will be down as well, so we'll update the Status Blog and the @Ning Twitter feed.

    • Thanks Aaron!  Have a wonderful night:-)

  • Hi everyone, just a reminder that this maintenance will take place one week from this evening. Mark your calendars!

    • Hi all,

We're gearing up for the big maintenance that will take place this evening. We'll update here, the Status Blog, and on Twitter before the maintenance begins.

      • i just noticed this just in time

what i would love to know is a list of issues being fixed or what this is for

ie will my slideshow slide again after this?

am i corect in thinking nings working towards migrating to a cloud server configuration if so is this part of that preperation

or is it basic optimization of the database type stuff

        • Your last two points are spot on. This maintenance window is scheduled for our engineering team to address ongoing back-end optimization work. The team has been making changes to our architecture to take advantage of newer equipment and powerful new cloud services that weren’t available when the back-end was originally designed.

Some key updates to be sure, but I don't think any of them will cause your slideshow to start sliding.
