I tried to create a ning site for parents in DC. There are a lot of parents groups in the DC area but they either use old basic html sites or Yahoo! e-groups. I made an attempt to migrate these users to a ning site but with minimal success. The people who did join, weren't very active and when I mentioned the ning site on a Dad's group I was on, I was kicked off for "spamming" (it was a free version, and I had no intention of making a profit off the site...I didn't really even want to run it). DC people tend not to be the most technically savvy people (lawyers and bureaucrats), however, I really didn't put in the right amount of effort.
