I'm a 17 years exp. web community developer. I run a community destination site at http://www.bigpacific.com and created bigpacific.ning.com to allow for free participation by locals in a non-marketing oriented venue and because there were a lot of requests for a Sunshine Coast facebook network. I started a couple of other ning networks (grokvancouver with my partner, qreview.ca, crushlimbaugh.org but lack of time has prevented moving forward on those).
