          • Social Engine PHP has all the info AND Spruz has the membership profiles.  SE is offline.  WAY TOO MUCH WORK FOR ME.

    • Mine too. What a stupid ass company. Anyone have suggestions about a class action lawsuit?  A lawyer with history in this? I'd like $ for all my lost revenue and time.

      • I don't but I am so sorry I paid this like an idiot.  At the very least I want a refund.  I wonder if they will even answer that request.  Yeah right

        • I am back up but the thought of this going on for however long makes me nauseous.

  • If there are any devs out there who are looking for work, please contact me here or at msjoykillar@live.com

  • With Ning being down so much over the last week, it became abundantly clear that i need a way to back up my content. I saw mention of the Archiver App, but it seems to be exclusively for 2.0. is there any way to download a copy of my site in case anything else happens?

    Thanks.

  • While I am certainly not happy with the more than double price increase, the functionality of NING for a graphic design educator is hard to beat. I have a couple of NING2 sites for my fully online classes but also several of the mini accounts for classes that are mostly onground. That they are just dumping these sites in the middle of the semester is really a bad call and leaves me scrambling to find a viable option. Couldn't they wait till like Jan 1 or something instead of leaving us all hanging? Are there any educators out there who are in the same boat? What are your plans?

    • I truly respect both your profession and your optimism.  However, it is critical that we understand that Ning's "leadership" has failed at the most fundamental level.  A simple statement as to the reality of the situation is the least they can do.

My background is education.  I'd rather hear "the dog ate my homework" than nothing at all.  At least I can work with a student that cares enough to lie rather than hide.

We're here for the long haul.  After all, there is no replacement in the world for a CMS.  They are the DARPA of technology, the alpha and the omega, and the end all that is all.  For us, the sun both rises and sets on Ning's vision.  We are but humble users while they are creators.  We're here to support their "leadership."  We're here to pay for their mistakes.  When you "make" what they do, and paid what they are, how can you not have total faith in their abilities?

Can you sense a touch of sarcasm?  lol...

      BTW, LearnDash is awesome.

      • Haha. Optimism isn't exactly the word I would use. For me at least, its the basic functionality... the straightforward discussion board, the gallery function, including the flash uploader, chat, and groups...  is what makes it work for my classes. I personally have not experienced many issues with the site or with the Ning people, but then again, I don't have 10,000 users either, so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll take a look at LearnDash. If it has a good gallery feature (no CMS that I have found has one) I would be very interested. Thanks.

        • I don't know how it's looking for you but my site has been non-functional for a few days without ANY F-ING WORD ABOUT A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G and I have 10 people who are supposed to post swaps tomorrow.

Right now, the functionality is a major problem cuz it DOESN'T FUNCTION AT ALL!
