Ning Q3 2017 plan!

When building up a plan for Q3, we based our roadmap on your feedback and suggestions, which we have been gathering and analyzing over the previous quarter. Aligning the list of the most sought-after features and your vision of our product with our planned development direction, we decided to focus on the following updates in Q3:

Improvements of Ning platform`s functionality:

  • Paid Access. The full release of this update will include Stripe integration in response to your feedback. Network creators will be able to set paid access to certain sections of their networks, monetize specific content (events, webinars, user-generated content with high rating), and get donations.

  • Audio. Many of you claimed the priority of this update, so this functionality will be delivered soon.

  • Release of Polls feature.  After the release of Search, this functionality often got listed among top priorities for the development. We remember that we promised to get it to you, so our dev team is already working on it.

We will also be adding smaller updates that you were asking for on Creators Network, such as:

  • Facebook integration

  • HTML5 (instead of Flash player)

  • Design studio tweaks

  • UI/UX improvement for mobile devices

Another aspect that we will touch upon is the overall usability of the product. We are already working in multiple directions in this regard - starting with Blog redesign.

Remember Kyryl, our Support Manager, who is always there for you whenever you have any questions? We tried to talk him out of it, but he could not resist reworking the Creators network for you, to improve its usability in accordance with your feedback. Yay to another part-time developer on the team - and condolences to his free time :)

That being said, have you ever wanted to join Ning team to steer the development process? Ready to jump into planning our upcoming releases with us? We’ll be back with this unprecedented opportunity soon - be the first to test pilot it!

  • Looking at creators comments it sounds like empty promises and continuous issues. I just joined and I'm feeling like I purchased a used car with issues.

    • Hi Gerard,

The tech team has fixed the issue with videos so they should be opened right now without any issues, however, it would take some time for the fix to be applied to all videos so please let us know if you notice any videos that cannot be opened so we could apply the fix to them urgently.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

    • Hi, Gerard!

When we have purchased the Ning we have had the same feeling :-). However, to see if the promises are false or not you can check for example announcement area and check the posts from this year and from the previous one and I think it won't be hard to notice that a number of the new features released during this year is much bigger than in the previous one. and I'm not talking about small updates that were not disclosed to the wide publicity as in order to disclose all of them it would be necessary to have the small army of copywriters. I'm not trying to say that all of the new features have been delivered in time, no some of them were, but it's no the point. During the process of the estimation, some of the hidden obstacles could be found during the development process itself, and you cannot avoid it as the platform hasn't been created by you from the humble beginning. Anyway, if you check the list of the features promised from the past and the information regarding the releases of them you will see that sooner or later they are getting released after all obstacles are far way back.

I'm sorry that your first impression about Ning wasn't good, as I have mentioned before in one replies to you, it has happened just after the renovation when the system is just becoming stable after the maintenance.

      Best regards,

      Ning Team.

  • Where is paid access? Today is September 4th 2017, so the end of Q3 is in 27 days. Is it launching on time? I sure hope so, because Ning originally said it would launch in Q2 and it never did.

    • Hi there!

It should be launched in time as I know, at the moment we are running the beta test on several networks that have been chosen before. Once it's finished I think we will make it available to everybody.

As I have mentioned somewhere in the comments already, unfortunately really serious malfunction has been spotted because of which we have had to postpone the release of paid access feature and members ranking system. Basically, malfunction, after several actions made, granted access to the materials restricted by paid access to the person who hasn't paid.

      Best wishes,

      Ning Team.

  • Hi!

I notice that the creators site has been optimized for mobiles device.for example : the logo looks very small and the menu is more friendly.
I wonder is the stafff could share some tips to optimized my site . thanks!
    • Hi Javier,

As I remember, you have several of them, please let me know which one and I would take a look when there would be a free minute. Or if you wish I can provide our account department with your contact details and they will help you with the optimization for mobile :-)

      Best regards,

      Ning team.

      • If you get spare chance (I know that's rare) show me the way.
        • Hi once again,

But actually there are several things that I would suggest to change, in your case when you have logo just above menu button it doesn't look very nice and takes an extra space on the first page of your network, and I think that would be better to show more content to the user a there would be bigger chance that something interesting would be noticed by the potential member of your network,so probably that would be better to put logo and menu into the same line (just for mob version), also "sticky" header menu would increase the usability of your network, as I have noticed on the first page there are a lot of videos, photos and they take a lot of space, so when you wish to use the menu it's necessary to scroll to the very top each time and with the sticky menu that would be not necessary especially when it won't take a lot of space on the screen. It's just my personal opinion so I could be wrong. Also, I would suggest increasing the text in the menu, right now it's a bit hard to press buttons there, but they look nice I should admit. If you wish I can help you with those changes, or if you have your own ideas I can assist as well if necessary.

          Best regards,

          Ning team.

        • Hi there!

I had a quick look, and basically, from what I saw your network look fine on mobile, during short surfing I haven't noticed anything that should be changed, but as I haven't examined all the pages maybe I'm wrong. Is there any specific page which needs optimization for mobile devices?

          Best wishes,

          Ning team.
