Mini Release: CSS classes and bug fixes

Hi All,

Just a quick note to let you know that we released a small update to 3.0 networks this morning. It included a few things:

Page and Section classes to make it easier to style pages and sections within a page. When you include a section of blog content on your front page for example, the wrapping div will have new classes; one is based on the type of content. So for blog content it would be section-blogBundle. That will let you style all blog sections the same. Another would be specific to the Blog itself, with a name like section-blogBundle-xxxxxxx-Bundle-xxx. That will let you target individual modules of content in a page. We've also added new classes to the <body> tag. In a blog detail page, for example, there are now class names that you can target based on the name of the blog and based on the url of the individual page.

We fixed a bug relating to Blog excerpt length, and changed the way excerpts are handled a little bit. If you have the blog set to show full posts, you can override that now by providing an excerpt explicitly on individual posts.

We fixed a couple of bugs: one related to the Set As Homepage option not being sticky enough, and other related to deleting a Social Channel page.

We moved the Facebook integration page into a new 3rd Party Integration page that we plan to fill out with great new partners in the near future.

Thanks,
Phil

    Hi Phil

Any chance you can give HTML boxes (.section-html) an additional unique class like you do blog bundles? Pretty limiting at present on custom pages that rely on html boxes.

    Thanks

    • Yes, that would be wonderful

This intrigues me.  Can you tell us who/what these 'new partners' might be?  And how much 'filling out' we might expect to see?

Phil, I'm still wondering what this means....?   Are you talking about inserting new Glam partner advertisements ?

        • You beat me to the punch, Jords! Haha!

I'm eagerly looking forward to this. Janrain was a great move on Ning's part two years back.

            • I posted a discussion about it back in March, I believe Allison said there is a distinct possibility Google+ will be added to the list of sign in options.

        • Oh, ok I think I get that.  Thanks for the explanation, Jordon!

Yes I agree that Skype chat would be a great integrated feature for NING sites.   :)

  • Hi All,

Just a quick question: Where can I find this document that has all the up to date CSS styling info, all the names we can use to target specific pages and the specific elements on them?

Does a detailed document exist for this, and even if it's just something creators are putting together, maybe someone can email me a copy? And even any pointers in styling for the new V3.

    Thanks for any help.

    Michelle
