The Removal of Networks that Never Purchased a Ning Plan

We've been focusing on bringing you new features on our Product Roadmap such as an all-new Chat, improving the Latest Activity feed, and (currently in Ning Labs) Top News, a way to integrate your social feeds from Facebook and Twitter with your Ning Network. While these improvements are highly visible, there's also a great deal of work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure your network runs smoothly and that our systems are finely tuned.

One such project our team has been working on recently is the removal of dead networks created before July 2010 that never purchased a Mini, Plus, or Pro plan. This project will open up hundreds of thousands of new Ning.com subdomains that were previously taken. These subdomains will become available for new networks to use.

One way that this may become visible to you: if you've created networks before July 2010 in the past that you no longer use, those will soon disappear from the My Networks section of Ning.com, the area where all of your customer account-related information lives.

This week, we'll be notifying Network Creators who never purchased a paid subscription for an old network that it will be deleted forever. That deletion will happen in two weeks. It's not too late to purchase a subscription for these networks to get them up and running again. But it almost is. After the two-week wait period is over, dead networks and their content will be permanently deleted.

This process will not affect any networks with a paid subscription.

If you've ever wanted to bring back one of your networks from 2010 or before, now's the time! Just go to the My Networks section of Ning.com, find the network and click “Pick a Plan.” If you have an eye on a subdomain, this is also your opportunity to claim it. We will update this post when the new Ning.com subdomains become available.

  • good :D

  • Want to recover this network.  Don't see anyway of recovering it via the ning.com interface - so have sent an email through to request it be re-enabled.

    Cheers,

    Ken

    • Thanks, Ken! I'll look for that ticket.

      Best,
      Aaron

  • Does anyone know how to sell domains? I probably should have done this a year or two ago. Any suggestions and hints welcome.

    • You just do a transfer through your registrar...make sure you have cash in hand before doing the transfer.

  • I wish we could now get the ning subdomain that wasn't available then and use it as our current one without starting over =\

    • How about a place to list and showcase some old sub-domains or networks that have been abandoned so interested persons can take them up?

      • Hey Denis,

It would be a pretty unwieldy list. We'll update everyone here when the new subdomains are available.

  • I wish there were some way to transfer my Scripts4Ning scripts to my new network. I'll miss the old Kingdomz X which was where I began as network creator on Ning, but it became a headache and burden to me and (apparently) to all the Ning engineers.

Later, I'll have one final look at its empty carcass and say my good byes.

  • By the way , I have to ask some question , some network is not working long time I want this networks (I will pay for this networks)So Can I get this Networks ???

    For example http://intetnetchitthu.ning.com/

I want this network the creator is not use now I can take this network ?

    It Possible ?
