Welcome Landing Page Builder

Hello everyone!

Recently we have promised you to make a big announcement related to the new feature release. While it is still in beta, we can not keep silence anymore. The feature we wish to unveil is the result of collaborative work of the whole team. And needless to say that it’s one of the hugest updates we have announced here on creators. It was really hard to keep calm and not to mention anything regarding this new functionality during the communication with you for the last 6 months in order to make this surprise possible.

Long story short, let us introduce you Landing Page Builder (LPB). This is a new drag and drop page builder which gives you the possibility to create a page for your network in the fast and easy way. Builder itself is allowing you to change the web page without looking at some abstract modules and columns, it’s closer to the work of the sculptor, who is able to touch the stone he is working with. The only one difference, the sculptor doesn’t have a user-friendly interface. And of course, how could we leave pro users aside - with the LPB you get the full control over the HTML code, CSS and js code of the network. And by saying “full control”l we mean completely full, plus integrated code checker will be helping you to police typos in an easy and convenient way.

We can talk about the LPB for ages since it’s the milestone in the history of Ning, but it's better to try it out. Just follow these simple instructions to get started:

  1. Go to your network admin panel and select Site & Pages in the sidebar;
  2. Click “Add a landing page” in the main navigation menu;
  3. Enter the landing page title and tab title in the corresponding text fields;
  4. Define the URL for your new landing page;
  5. Click “Save”.

That’s it - your landing page is now created! For more information and recommendations visit our Help Center: click here

Please keep in mind that it’s still beta of the LPB which is showing the direction we are going to move design studio on. That’s why your feedback is extremely important for us, so don’t hesitate to share any ideas here on creators or with any of our support agents.

Hope you would be excited with it like we are.

Sincerely yours,

The Ning Team.

      • Anastasia,

        I've tried everything and have never been able to make module changes in Site Builder. This is what I see:

        Can you advise?

        Thanks!

        • Hi!

          I just checked your website efmtest.ning.com and was not able to reproduce the issue - for me all modules were editable. Could you please specify the browser you are using and its version. Also, does this happen only to the activity module or some other modules too?

          Looking forward to your reply!

          Best regards,

          The NING Team

  • My question was simple: "GIVE ME JUST ONE!"  I asked for just ONE example of a landing page. I did not ask for somebodies opinion of a landing page. Give us an example - just one - of a landing page in a NING 3.0 community. I have managed a non-profit 2.0 community of 18.000+ members for over 10 years now. Your account management is trying to persuade me to move to a more expensive 3.0 because it offers features such as the LP. So show me! A link to a generic Google search on "Landing Page" is almost an insult.

    • Hello!

      I apologize for the misunderstanding! I offered you to check Matthew`s comment and an article via the link because you asked for "at least refer to good text explaining the benefits of a landing page for a social network". In my opinion, Matthew, as a site owner has some perspective of how the landing page can be targeted towards a social website audience, and even though the article is not specifically about social networks, it is still doing a good job of explaining the main point of having a landing page - converting leads into customers. You may say converting visitors into members in your case.

      I understand that you want to see a successful usage of a landing page. But firstly - there are multiple ways of using the landing page, and how do you define the successfulness of each one? Just a good looking landing page doesn't automatically become successful because of it, the creator of the site decides what is the main purpose of the page and only the owner can objectively decide whether his goal was reached or not. You can use the landing page to attract new members, or to sell membership on your site, or to raise some funds for charity, or to bring your members attention regarding some event - we do not track such information and cannot say was a landing page a success or not. Also, as I already mentioned, I am not in a position to publicly share/promote our customer's websites without their permission. This is why I can offer you to create a discussion and ask the network owners here to share their achievements.

      Best regards,

      The NING Team

  • JUST ONE! Give me just one link to a landing page that you consider succesful! This discussion is like playing darts blindfolded. Also, explain why one shpould want a landing page or at least refer to good text explaining the benefits of a laninf page for a social network.

    • I use my landing page as a window into the social network. www.lediabete.ning.com

      It is more developed than more landing pages and has more information - and I keep shortening it and removing info.

      I have calls to action in every block. I want to encourage people to look, and then, join.

      I hope this is a good example. I havent launched yet .... so i dont know.... :-)

    • Hello!
      I do know a couple of websites with nice-looking landing pages, but their owners are not registered here, on creators, and I personally do not want to share their work without a permission. But some network creators posted links to their landing pages in comments, you can check it.

      If you do not mind, I will quote Matthew here, I think he made a good point. Also, in my opinion, this article is doing a good job of explaining the main pros of having a LP without going too deep into the subject - http://meshlivebuild.com/what-is-a-landing-page/

    Just getting to the Landing Page. Looks and feels a bit like SquareSpace, very sleek! First experience and observation, freezes Chrome during editing. I run the latest version of Chrome. But, looking great! Thanks, Ning.

    • Hello!

      Thank you so much for your feedback! If you are editing your landing page in Developer mode, I can recommend you to disable an autodeploy function - http://take.ms/pEaHM
      When enabled the system constantly tries to save the changes in the code.

      Feel free to share with us your thoughts on possible improvements or additional functionality, we would highly appreciate it!

      Best regards,
