Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

approve group members

Is there a way to set up a group that allows members to request to join the group and an approval is required to let them?  This was a feature in the Ning 2 platform that I used often.

        • That is for approving groups.  So that not it either.  8o)

I think what I want is a Ning 2 feature that is not on Ning 3.  I am finding a LOT of features that are on Ning 2 but not Ning 3.  8o(

there are all functions in 3.0 ..3.0 is higher than 2.0 ... just check the settings

    • Yep. I found many features in Ning 3 not in Ning 2.  Mostly in configuration of the network.  But there are several features in Ning 2 that Ning 3 do not have and I have to decided if I can live without them or go back to Ning 2.

check my site and you realize that 3.0 is great ... if you need to work on the theme or anything else i am helping many creators i am available

        • Ning spent most of their effort in the presentation of the Network.  We have so much control as to how our network looks.  Unfortunatly, many network features were left behind.  I would think that Ning 3 would have at least every feature that Ning 2 has.

Here is what I have found so far.

          1. We do not know who is online.

          2. Strike through is no longer availble in comments.

          3. We cannot delete chat comments.

          4. There is no link to ad photos, blog posts or discussions on the profile page.

          5. The email sent when comments are posted in a group do not identify which group it is.

          6. We can no longer see the email address in a group member list.  I REALLY NEED THIS ONE.

          7. When you leave a group, you still receive emails from it.  You have to join the group again, unfollow and then leave the group to stop the emails.

          8. There is no list of who is in chat.

          9. Eventually the time stamp on chat comments go away.

I found a work about the group approval thing.  However it is combersome and more work on my end to approve a member.

I am sure there are features I do not know are missing.  These are the ones I discovered for I need them.

Thank you for the offer to help.  If I get in a bind, I will ping you.

          • Thanks! Glad you made a list! I was working on it!

            • Let me know what you found.  I would love a more accurate list.  maybe Ning will use it as a go-by to what is needed.
