Yesterday I tried to use the Facebook SignIn/SignUp option, but, although I followed the updated step by step guide, I was not able to make it work. A message appeared in the registration screen telling me, that the domain was not associated. Is there any additional steps missing from that guide? Could it be that I am not using https website? Thanks.

The https of your network should affect the facebook sign in since the authorization made through the page which is not located under your subdomain.
And yes there are several additional settings that should be added to the one you have already made using instruction. Here is the video where it's shown how to create the app from the start http://take.ms/J5x2O, please check it.
