Hi everyone. I added a custom lightbox to my networks and it increased membership conversion by over 40%.
For those of you that dont know what a lightbox is. Its a small pop that comes in from the left side of the screen with a message on it. You can see it on www.cakeswebake.com or www.wiccantogether.com
Let me know if you are interested in having this on your network If enough creators want it I will program it to work on other peoples sites.

You will also notice im giving an ebook away to new members this increased my memberships big time.
You can find ebooks with resale rights by searching ebook plr in google.
Best thing i ever did.

  • Great idea, Brian! You have a wonderful site. When I read "I added a custom lightbox", my initial reaction was to recoil. I generally dislike ads that displace content...forcing you to click or close them.

    But I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Your ad is well designed and extremely relevant (not to mention enticing). I wasn't annoyed by it at all, and actually considered joining despite the fact that the last time I baked anything it came out of a box and ended up in the bin. :)

    I just might have to seriously consider following your lead here...

      I hate pop as well but it makes such a big difference when done right.
      Im working on a way to track signups from adwords and adcenter etc now.
      I wish ning would just allow you to add the tracking code.
      If anyone knows how to do this please let me know.

      Ps we will be offering a 30 day trial on the lightbox to anyone that wants to to try it out

  • I don't see the lightbox?
    • Its a little buggy its a work in progress.
      What browser are you using?
      Are you running any ad blocking software?
      • IE 8, I do have pop-up blockers, but none of them seem to react on your site, they usually tell me their blocking something.

        I really like the e-book idea, couldn't find one for my particular needs, but I'll keep checking.

  • Just wondering if it is against terms and conditions to use poppers when you have adsense on it.
    • Technically it's not a popup, but a popover, it's on the same page and doesn't break Adsense rules.
