Ning, Whatever you're doing to keep this wonderful Ning Creators community spam-free is working. I'd like to focus on engaging existing members instead of manually approving new ones to thwart spammers. Care to share your spam-free secret? Thanks -Rich www.webseriesnetwork.com

Dear Eric,
Lot's of good information in your reply. Thanks. As an anthropologist, I am interested in your comment:
"there is even a spam season of the year when spam seems to be the worst (we're about to hit it, actually)."
I guess you are writing from the northern hemisphere, and that season would be spring.
In human ecology, after winter, there is Spring, and with Spring, there is sex, timed perfectly to produce offspring at the time of year when food stores (after summer) are at their maximum, to support milk making (for newborns, over the hard months of winter). There are very basic reasons why we all (most of us) like Spring (even if it is only to enjoy picnics under trees in a park or forest).
This all to say, that I guess the p--n industry is responsible for more spam than any other industry, and it is probably trying to take advantage of our better, procreative, social nature.
Thanks for trying to keep Ning a neutral space. That's what we need to be Network Creative.
Peter
