could it be possible to separate customer community announcements from Ning platform announcements? I think both are valuable in their own way, but it's hard to differentiate the two.
I think people will still read both, but having two sections in the dashboard for stuff relating just to this community and also to platform wide changes may be a good idea. Company wide versus comunity wide may help people see the important things first. Sometimes if you bridge them together, people think the next few announcements will only be about a specific thing on creators. Then they find something isn't working and it's because of a company wide change nobody read because of the announcements on creators being so many, compared to the few ones about all network wide statements.
It's just a thought.

The announcements are separated. All the important once related to teh feature releases could be found under the "Features" category
Also on the network itself in the dashboard, they are presented in the separate highlighted feed at the top of the page:

I noticed the activity feed doesn't show when reading announcements. I kind of wish it did lol. Thank you for replying! I have to say Ning is progressing more so than not so I'm impressed and happy to be here.

Yep, it was done on purpose. Such approach helps to not diffuse attention of the reader and be a bit more concentrated which would lead to the better understanding of the topic.
