Call me dumb lol but I have a lot going on right now with building my community etc. And one of the things I really want to implement is the ranking system and leader board. I am wondering if anyone can show me an example of theirs on their site and explain it to me...sorry my brain is in overload or I could probably figure it out on my own. Thank you! I have a luncheon on Thursday and would love to be able to share this with my members at the meeting.

I implemented it on my site.

See the subtab called awards.
Here's how it works. It's found under members management.
click on member ranking.
Now, you're presented with 4 main areas.
The first lets you choose points awarded for activity items. You can't add or remove activity items as they're set by Ning. But you can select whether or not members receive points for completing certain actions.
You can award certain actions with a positive point. And others, with a negative. Be careful here as you only want to assign negative points to items you don't want members to participate in. This of course can be changed at any time. But negative points can be a sign you want members to participate only in certain areas of the board itself. Or if you just like the backwards numbering system.
Next up, you have the section where you can award members for not removing their account. In other words, they get points for registering x amount of days, months, years etc. This never made sense to me but I enabled it anyways for the fun of it.
Next up you have the achievements section. I don't know why but you can only create an achievement if it's marked as personal, but there you have it. You can have a maximum of 100000 points so as the member climbs up the score board, they get a number of points showing how many they earned. You can configure how this is set and what the award names are. Adnd add badges and achievement medals. But you can't add your own custom badge, or rename the wording of points to something else. So it's pointless because you can't go past 100000 in either direction. And it has to be marke dpersonal for it to take effect.
The last section is where you can supposedly manage peoples points But it doesn't work. You just get a search box to enter in a user name or email address.
So there you have it. The members leaderboard system.
I placed the widget for that on the members page of my site so you can see it live in action.

Hi there!
You can create the not personal achievement that would be assigned depends on the earned points, just don't click personal tick box, and click save. Even the name of the achievement is not the required field, so you can make some achievements without names, only the icon would be shown.
If you have been talking about "Earned points" text. It could be changed in the language editor, just perform the search for that text there and you will be able to change it to any other words you need.

Members do not get email notifications if their points increase. So it's just for show. That's why I put it in its own tab so people can click on it if they care, but mostly people just want to read profiles, comment and view the latest activity feeds.
