Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Our Ning site is for our professional organization and we would like for our members to have their professional listing/bio up on our site as a member benefit.  Ideally, I would like members to be able to manage their own professional profiles rather than having an admin or moderator create all of the different profie pages as articles or something.  Is anybody else doing this or know of a way that it could be done?

  • Hello there!

Your members will be prompted to create their own profiles during the registration on your site. You, as a creator of the site, can set up a profile questions to be asked during the registration and the answers will be displayed on their own profiles.

Also, you can add a Member customizable HTML box where your members will be able to add any info they want.

Please let me know if you need more information or have any questions regarding the functionality.

    Best regards,

    The NING Team

In addition to what Anastasia said below, you can create a robust member directory as i have outlined here: Clean, Robust, Filterable Community Member Directory

Similar can be accomplished by creating a member map..i have tips on that in my past discussions on Creators...

Nevertheless, in order to allow member edits, this would involve allowing direct access to the spreadsheet which drives the system- if you would like to allow them to edit their own listing in the site.  I could imagine a workflow like Download Member Data > upload to Google Drive > Open csv in sheets > copy and paste column data monthly/weekly/yearly..... but there again you are using data which is always as fresh as their last profile edit.

An idea... you could use a profile question to link to a jotform form, then using the app submissions viewer, build a template using bootstrap and wrap the form submissions with the template to make an editable directory...

hope this helps a little.... contact me if you'd like to rap about it.  Good Luck!
