NC for Hire

I must say that one of the only annoyances that I have found about 3.0 is the color of the Ning Bar (no offense Ning, just clashes with my community color scheme).  So yesterday I decided to inspect it and found that with a single little block of code you can change the color of the ning bar to anything you like.  And remember there is a desktop Ning bar and the one you see for mobile so we'll need to change both.  Obviously only admins see the Ning bar but if you want to change yours here is how to do it.

Desktop Ning Bar #000 (black)

Mobile Ning Bar (black)

How to do it  Open your Design Studio and place the following CSS inside the advanced section, changing my #000 with your own color:

 a.dashboardBar-ningLogo,div.dashboardBar-toggleButton.toggle-button,div#dashboardBar,div.dashboardBar-innerSection {background:#000!important;}

And subsequently you may be wondering why my Translation button is where it is.  I think i have discovered the best place to put the translation options--over to the left where members do not see a ning bar.

If you are interested in how to do this let me know.  Have a great weekend!

      I've never seen it, but you could be right... i assume they wanted it to stay green but in any case i prefer it less green.. good to see you back bud!

    I've decided I like the transparent version the best

    a.dashboardBar-ningLogo,div.dashboardBar-toggleButton.toggle-button,div#dashboardBar,div.dashboardBar-innerSection {background:transparent!important;}

      its funny that they now added an additional ugly green bar at the top....

      here is how to make it transparent

      div.dashboardBarWrap {background:transparent!important;}

      • It's a horrible looking yoke. Annoys me. Why can we not just collapse it. It used to be that I was irritated that it was always open by default when I went to my site, and that I had to collapse it, but now that the damn thing is open all the time a green line across the top of site - yuck! >:( It is branding really. Anyways I will try this transparent insert and see if it works. Thank you, I came here today looking to see if anyone else found it irritating!

      • Oh phew! That's so much better. Thanks a million :)
