Want new members? This is how I do it

This will only work well if your site is based around a niche for instance my site is about cake decorating

 

Step 1

Go to Facebook and search for groups and fan pages around your niche.

If there are a lot of groups and fan pages with lots of likes and members you can move on to

 

Step 2

Create a facebook page for your network.

Important you need to create a new profile page not a group or fan page. (you can do that also but it will not work as well)

 

Make sure you add some photos and videos around your topic.

 

Step 3(important - Facebook might only allow you to like or join a limited amount of pages or groups per day if you do to many you will get a warning. Please take the warning serious you dont want to get your account frozen.)

 

Like and join as many on topic pages as you can find on facebook. Be sure to start with the pages and groups that have the most likes or members. Facebook will limit how many you can like so you want to make sure you dont waste it on pages with only a few members.

 

Step 4

Invite friends from the groups and fan pages you just joined

you should be able to invite around 25 -50 friends per day. be careful with this as facebook will warn you if you send to many friend requests. I would start off with 10 per day and then slowly increase to 25. you will want to send a message along with the friend request

Around 10 % of the people who accept my request have joined my site.

Its not a super fast way to get new members but it is easy and it works.

The cool thing is once you get a few hundred friends you will start to get requests from their friends. So it will begin to build itself.

 

At this point i have a few accounts with the max number of friends 5000. Every day i post some pictures , videos or a cool forum post to the accounts. This sends the site a steady amount of visitors.

thanks for sharing. i'm glad that it is working out for you, however, that is like spamming people if you add them to send them links to your site. i usually delete spammers from my facebook & ning friends's list. i hate spam. if they add me to build with me because we have similar interests, then that's cool. they can check out my websites after we build a rapport. i prefer to have people know that i am about honesty & integrity first, then they are happy to support whatever websites or events that i promote. to each his own. whatever works for you is what counts. thanks again for sharing.

I think it is important when you send a friend request you include a message.

Something like i see you inteterested in web design. I am a web designer as well.

I look forward to being your friend.

 

Of if you find the person in a group mention the group.

Don't forget that you have to create content that will attract people to your site.  That's the link.  Def! create a new account if you're going to try and befriend and send people to your site via facebook because you might get flagged and don't want to lose your personal account.  

 

Creating a Facebook page is something I recommend.  It takes longer to get running but is going to be worth it if you are in it for the long haul.

Brian, were you able to create a facebook page for your site?  I tried and facebook says that I can only one page; a page for my site will has to be attached to my personal facebook page and I switch between the two.

I got around this by creating a second page using a different e-mail address and a shorter version of my full name.  I hope this will work for you.

Yes you need to have a new email it has to be seperate from any other accounts
