I am currently in search of a 2.0 site and I am sure there are others out there looking for a 2.0 site as well. I tried the 3.0 on Ning and Spruz and they both are horrible for what my members love to do with their profile pages. Ning wants everyone that have 2.0 sites to close (thats in my opinion) and migrate over to 3.0 which lessen your ability to be really creative with your css and html. To me the 3.0 is a Facebook clone. The more people that allow their sites to close rather than sign them over is giving ning more and more reason to NOT have technical support for the 2.0 sites... The sad part is that we are allowing it to happen by letting our 2.0 sites just close down. The worst is that they know we don't have too many other options. Once you close it down, they offer the site up for sale but its the 3.0 site with your old site name.
If you have a site that you dont want any more please allow someone like me who want a 2.0 site to have it. Ning clears/deletes out all of your data and members when you make the transfer of ownership...

I don't even understand why people want to remain on Ning when they have made it clear they are not maintaining 2.0 sites. Is it only for profile customization? I had a code that allowed 3.0 profile CSS at one point but I don't know if it still works.
AnGella, I have senior members who are learning to play with css and html. (Most of my members are 65 -79). A 2.0 site gives them that opportunity to customize their profiles, post html comments but more importantly learn (with some help from me from time to time). All the newer sites have the facebook platform and thats not what they want...as one of my members said, "anyone can upload a cover photo". They enjoy the profile customization and take pride in their creations. Those that want to play have no place else to go... if I could find someone to create a site that has all the option of personal customization, chat, and the things ning 2.0 offers (within a reasonable price)... I would do it in a heartbeat and upload to a server. With the covid pandamic the old platform gives them something to do to take their minds off not being able ot see or interact with family while stuck at home.
Its not just about profile customization.. its about giving my senior community a place to call home without all the facebook and 3.0 rheoric...they long for the old MySpace platform that ning 2.0 has.
I hope Angella sells her site to you if she has decided to leave, at least it goes to another artist
