We have the Marketplace app currently installed on our ning network: http://www.stapletonconnect.com
In addition to the fact that it is a bit 'clunky' at times, it often fails to even show up (the page area where the classifieds should be is just white).
Having classifieds is something that we see as important to maintaining traffic. Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!
PS... would love any feedback on the site thus far as we have been live for about 6 weeks.

We don't. We eventually may charge for real estate listings, but for the most part, the goal is to just have it as a free super local alternative to craigslist. (that being said, the ability to charge for classifieds is really not important if there are better scripts out there, regardless of whether they have that functionality)
Hi Dan, I too am looking for a classifieds for my network. At the moment I'm using one of my forums as my new classifieds section. You can view it here. Good luck and if you come up with a better option, please share and I will do the same.
Cheers,

A lot of us use the listings app. I don't know if Kris is using the app or the original version, but you can get the idea here on his site (my site is private).
Your site- Good clean layout & loads fast. 130 members in 6 weeks. Good job & good luck!
Hi, your lisings sets up looks really good....who did the integration for you? Have you discovered anything better than listings for classifieds on ning? my site is www.fitnessconnect.co.za - take a look
I use the notes section of the site to place ads. The only thing is the admin has to post all the info.
I easily solved collecting the data with a jotform.
I looked into Listing app but to enable your users to post photos was very expensive while Market place is free.
The problem I'm having with marketplace is that when you make a post, it automatically emails you with a link to make sure it is you that is posting but the link is just plain text. You have to copy its url & paste it to your browser. I believe many visitors won't get that.
Also, I've been asking Ning if we can have control of changing the Marketplace page url like we can "Pages". I think it was Even who got back with me to say he was going to bring it up with Ning but I never heard anything more.
Finally switched from Marketplace to Apps.io Listings. Much much better although there is still a little delay in load time. Overall though, much better, and I decided to upgrade to the 8.95 premium option for the additional features.
I'm using a "closed" group that allows members to use the forum area for their listings. I charge $5.00 a year (or included with Business Profiles, which are $20.00 a year) for membership to this group, and I've integrated Amazon's Add To Wishlist button so that people can save items to their wishlist, which gets them more visibility (great for online stores). People who aren't a member of the group can still view it, they just can't add anything:)
I know this good classifieds script. http://osclass.org/ I wish I could understand how it could be customized to fit into a ning website. There are people here on creators who can do that I am sure.
Sigh!
Hi Denis, Yes I saw that one - it looks amazing! Can it be integrated?
