Ok, earlier today I showed you how to make all of your external links open in a new window using Jquery. I did this to see how many of you are interested in where your traffic goes. Now I am going to show you something that you are going to LOVE. Mostly because it will allow you to say "Who cares where my external links go? They take me with them!" Enter Visibli If you followed that link you saw something like this:
Visibli allows you to create a share bar that fully mimics the design of your site, including logo, links to fb pages, twitter or as you can see from my bar, special links to anything you like...kindof like a skysa or wiyaba bar that travels with your user even when they have left your site, carrying your branding. In fact, it stays there until they click the (X) Here's a glimpse of how it works:
Let's say you are a land surveyor and you are looking for the latest available jobs in a particular state in the US. On my network, i give you a link to a jobs board that I created for just this purpose! You click on the link to the surveying jobs board and BOOM! across the top of every page you visit (until you click the (X), you will have my bar across the top.
How do I have a Visibli bar for my Ning?
Glad you asked. Go to Visibli and create an account. Customize your bar and grab the code for "Other Websites" under Tools. Place that code in your Custom Code box and from then on, it will automagically convert all of your outgoing links into a new bit.ly URL, giving you a way to track such things, a way to stay engaged.
Another way to use Visibli
The example I used above is a Google Sites mini version of my network, mapped to a subdomain called info. In Google Sites, you cannot (currently)dynamically change links because Sites don't do javascripts. So in such a case, I can simply take the URL of a site I want to link to, shorten it with the other tool under Share on Visibli. Place the URL in the box, press Personalize then copy the bit.ly URL it generates and you'll get the same wonderful result.

I'm assuming any good Google carma is out the window. Dosen't matter, they aren't sending me traffic.
You're a mad scientist JFarrow.
dressed as a mad hatter
well done...
remember that google does not award you for who you link to, only who links to you, so of course your reasoning is correct and Google has no need of Karma...they're rich
It would be amazing if Ning could do this.
UPDATE: If you previously instal
works for 3.0 too!
