If you use SkimLinks, you will have already got an email about this ebook (as I did).
"Monetizing Online Forums" is a great ebook that is free to download:

I recommend reading it even if you are only starting your network and plan to monetize in the future. It's a great read that covers all the bases. If you are already monetizing, it can show you some areas you might not be giving enough attention.

PS: I have no connection to this book or to SkimLinks. I do use Skimlinks on one of my Ning sites and they send me a couple hundred bucks a month because of it.

skimlinks irritate members
It depends on how your weighing the options of using skimlinks... irritated members vs. a couple of hundred bucks a month.
mmm... I think I'm going to take another look at adding skimlinks.
It depends on how you use skimlinks. You don't have to have any in-text ad/links. You can just use Skimlinks to convert your outgoing links to affiliate links. The user sees no difference in user experience at all. And now you get a commission on links that were generated by your members. I see no reason to not use that part of skimlinks. That feature alone has earned us 4 figure money this year.
Also, this book is about all forms of forum monetization - not just skimlinks. It was sponsored by skimlinks but the author is independent and presents everything he knows on the topic - including VigLink info (skimlinks biggest competitor). It's a good read even if you hate in-text ads.
Interesting, what sites do you run Clark, I would love to have a look
